EndNote

This is an introduction to getting started with EndNote for UT Health users.

EndNote Sync DialogSyncing Your Library

EndNote's sync feature can keep your library backed up and synchronized across multiple devices.

EndNote can store a copy of your library on the EndNote server and check it for updates whenever you open your library on a different device.

If you saved your library to cloud storage (e.g. OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, etc.) then you will need to move your library to a device storage drive otherwise your library could be corrupted.

Set up a n EndNote user account.

  • Open EndNote settings (via Edit > Settings in Windows, EndNote 21 in macOS) and select the Sync tab.
  • Click Enable Sync.
  • Click Sign Up if you do not already have an EndNote account
  • Enter your EndNote username and password.
  • Check the Sync Automatically box.
  • Click Save
  • You can click Sync Status then Sync if your library has not already begun syncing.

Repeat this configuration on each of your computers. Any updates you make on one of your computers will be reflected on the others. This even works to synchronize your library among Windows and macOS computers.

Syncing your EndNote library also allows you to access and cite your EndNote library from any web browser on any device.

For more details and help troubleshooting sync problems, check the EndNote Support site.
