Library Policies

Effective 9/1/24, in order to access the library resources (which are all online), all users will need to have an active username and password for proper authentication through the UT Health SA network. We will no longer be issuing library accounts (using library ID/PIN combination). The request for network access will come from your department (not the library).

Borrowing Policies

Print materials have been moved to offsite storage, as a result print materials are no longer circulating. Current Adjunct/Clinical faculty can still request print items through Interlibrary Loan

You must be registered and have a current appointment letter filed with the library to register and request materials. Registration expires each year and must be renewed annually. Please call (210-567-2450) for your status.

Returning Materials

Interlibrary loans can be returned:

  • To a library staff member Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm in the library
  • 24/7 in the book drop located outside the library building facing the parking lot

Use of Online Resources

In order for Adjunct and Clinical Faculty to access online resources remotely they must do two things.

1) Provide proof of affiliation by submitting a current appointment letter to Chris Gaspard  AND

2) Create a library account at https://briscoe.uthscsa.edu/ (click on Register)

Once your account has been set-up and your appointment letter is on file you will receive an email message with instructions for remote access.

*Please note, in order to maintain your remote access privileges you must provide a new appointment letter annually.

In order to access resources remotely you must either be connected to the UT HSC VPN or connect via Library Login from the Library homepage

Important: Please note, effective 9/1/2024 there will be a change in how affiliates including adjunct and adjoint faculty access library e-resources. All affiliates will be required to obtain a network username and password in order to authenticate through the UT Health SA network. The library will no longer be issuing library accounts (using library ID/PIN combination). The request for network access will come from your department (not the library).
