Interlibrary Loan

How does it work?

If you are a faculty, staff, or student currently affiliated with the university who is doing research, you can make use of ILL to borrow books from the History of Medicine Collection.

We have a plethora of books stored on site in the Nixon Library that may be used for research purposes.

How to request?

  • Find an item or items you want to borrow from the collection
  • Reach out to Diane Fotinos to check to see if the item/s are available for borrowing
  • Look up the item in the library catalog
  • Place an ILL request for the item/s
    • Note: You must submit a separate request for each item
  • The item/s will be processed by the ILL staff and checked out to you
  • You will receive an email when your item/s are ready for pickup

Items are checked out to you for a month, after which you can request a renewal, if needed.

What can't I borrow?

Some items cannot be lent out. These include:

  • Rare books
  • Oversized volumes

If you would like to make use of these items you can view them in the P.I. Nixon reading room. Contact Diane Fotinos to set up an appointment.
