2020 Library Reopening during COVID-19: Home

A Message from the UT Health Briscoe Library

Dear Members of the UT Health San Antonio Community:

In a modified reopening plan, the UT Health Briscoe Library will be reopening space for individualized study beginning on Tuesday, September 8th, with weekend hours beginning Saturday, November 7th.

As our UT Health community enters the fall semester, library staff will continue to offer virtual services and remain actively engaged in supporting online learning as we continue to adapt to the evolving needs of our campus community.

While there will be limits imposed on the use of library space by campus social distancing guidelines, preparations are being made to provide a safe study environment for everyone.

Please be assured that campus guidelines will be in full effect, requiring everyone to wear a face mask at all times and to maintain a 6-foot physical distance.

The library will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday & Sunday. Access to the library will be through card swipe only for current students, faculty and staff during open hours. The library will remain closed to the public.

For additional information, please watch for updates on the library website at library.uthscsa.edu or contact Peg Seger at segerp@uthscsa.edu.

Reopening Plan

Designated individual study space in Briscoe Library will open for use beginning September 8, 2020, with weekend hours beginning November 7, 2020.

We will continue to assess conditions to determine whether additional space and services can be made available or, whether we must revisit or roll back prior decisions in the interest of the health and safety of library staff and users.

Our initial focus will be on monitoring library individual study space users for adherence to campus mask and social distancing guidelines. We will continue to deliver other services virtually in support of both on-campus and remote faculty, students, and staff. We will continue to look for ways to increase our capacity to acquire and distribute digital books and articles, and to explore new ways to expand the digitization of materials from library collections for research and teaching.

While library space and services will look very different in the fall of 2020, we are fully committed to the success of all of you who use and depend on library resources and services.

We will modify and adjust our plans as conditions warrant and as we gain experience operating in this new environment. Updates will be shared on the library website
at library.uthscsa.edu.

If you have comments or questions about reopening, please contact us directly or send an email to askalibrarian@uthscsa.edu. We look forward to hearing from you.
