What is LibKey Nomad?

A browser extension that gives you fast, one-click access to scholarly articles.

LibKey Nomad

  • automatically provides instant links to articles from journals subscribed to by your library – and Open Access sources – connecting you to literature discovered on the web.
  • works with your library to determine the fastest path to content across thousands of publishers and millions of articles.
  • adds support to PubMed, Wikipedia and hundreds of other scholarly publisher websites and research databases.

Note: LibKey Nomad works for items with a DOI or PMID. 

 

Download the Extension

Add the browser extension that links to full-text at Briscoe Library when you search the web.

After downloading the extension, use these instructions to set up:

  1. Click the button above. From the Third iron website, click on your favorite browsers.
  2. Click on the “Add to” button inside the browser window, and follow the pop-ups to finish the installation.
  3. A box will ask you to choose your institution.
  4. Under “Select Institution”, type in UT Health and click on “UT Health San Antonio” from the suggestions.
  5. You will see a green box that says “Library Selection Saved!” That’s it.

Access Features:

In a single click, the user should either see a PDF on their screen or be prompted to download a PDF immediately. If authentication is required for the user, they will be prompted to sign in.

The same as the above with the exception that the user will NOT see a PDF, they will see a web page which either has the full text in HTML or also has the PDF, but one more link is required to access it.

Most likely, access is not available and user will be sent to Interlibrary Loan site.

The article has been found in the form of an Accepted Manuscript in a repository. While the content has been peer-reviewed, it is unlikely to be formatted for publishing so may appear as an unformatted Word Document, etc. These documents never require authentication.

The article has been retracted and warning is provided in collaboration with Retraction Watch.

Cite Options - By clicking on the graduation cap, the user will be provided with option to export the article's citation data to a variety of bibliographic citation managers.
