FAQ

If you have left something in the library building, you have the following options to recover your item:
• Call UT Police Lost & Found at 210-567-2800 (extension 1) for items of higher value or security such as mobile devices, keys, or ID cards.
• Call the Warehouse at 210-567-6025 for items of lesser value such as clothing.
• Call 210-567-2440 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mon. – Friday for library staff assistance with the Lost & Found drop box located in front of the library entry.
• For water bottles, please check under the microwave table just inside the library entrance doors on the 3rd floor. (Please note that used food containers are disposed of due to potential health issues.)

• If you are interested in a print item (book) that the library does not own, or is located off-site, you can use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. ILL can also be used for articles and book chapters which are generally delivered electronically. For assistance with ILL, please call 210-567-2460 M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays. You can view more information about ILL and request items on our library website by typing in the following address on your device or other library computers: library.uthscsa.edu or go directly to our ILL Library Guide by visiting libguides.uthscsa.edu/ill.
• To pick up or drop off print books requested by ILL, please call 210-567-2440 M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays. You can also use the book drop box located in front of the library building, 24/7/365, to drop off books after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
Our ILL service is available only for current students, faculty, or staff of UT Health San Antonio. For UT Health retirees, alumni, and South Texas Area Health Professionals, please call 210-567-2460 M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to determine eligibility. Public users can contact the local San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) system at 210-207-2500 about SAPL ILL services.

• For computer problems, please contact the IMS helpline at 210-567-7777.
• For printing problems, please contact UT Print at 210-567-2315.
• For noise problems on library floors (3rd, 4th, and 5th), please call 210-567-2440, M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays.
• For housekeeping problems, please contact 210-567-2936.
• For temperature problems, please contact 210-567-2947, or 210-567-2946.
• For health or safety problems, please contact Environmental Health & Safety at 210-567-2955.
• In an emergency, please contact UT Police at 210-567-2800.

• For the most part, it is no longer necessary for the library to provide a signature on clearance forms since we no longer charge fines.
• However, if you still require assistance, please call 210-567-2440, M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays.

• While you cannot place a room reservation through Vik, you can see the status of your and other reservations so that you can quickly tell what is available.
• To place a room reservation, please use your own mobile device or any available library (3rd floor) computer to access room reservations through the main library website at library.uthscsa.edu. (All library computers are located close to Vik on the 3rd floor.)
• Library room reservations apply to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors only. For more information, please refer to the library website at library.uthscsa.edu or call 210-567-2440, M-F 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. excluding holidays.
• For Library classroom reservations on the 2nd floor, please call Room Scheduling (University Scheduling) at 210-567-2655.
Reservations are available only for current UT Health San Antonio students, faculty, and staff.

• Welcome! If you do not yet have your UT Health email or domain account (login username and password), you can still use library resources and a computer while in the library. For assistance 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F, please call 210-567-2440.
• While the preferred Wi-Fi for all students, faculty, and staff is HSC Wave, you can use the HSC Guest Wi-Fi until your credentials are established.

• In addition to Briscoe Library, there are other departments located in the library building on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. (Student Life, Office of International Services, ADA Compliance, Registrar, Financial Aid, Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics, Undergraduate Medical Education)
• Check out Vik’s menu for information on some of these departments from both the main menu and the maps.
• Information about rooms or events on the library building 2nd floor should be directed to Room Scheduling (University Scheduling) at 210-567-2655.
