RefWorks Guide: Get Started

This guide describes how to find RefWorks on the library's website and how to create an account. Links are provided to other guides on how to use RefWorks.

Create a RefWorks Account

  1. From the Library Home Page, move your mouse to the Databases tab on the left and then click on RefWorks in the drop down menu.
  2. Select "New Refworks." The old RefWorks platform will not be supported after December, 2017.
  3. Select the "Create Account" below the entry box.
  4. Enter your institutional email address--must include @uthscsa.edu or @livemail.uthscsa.edu.
  5. Create a password for your account. This is not the same as your institutional domain account password, and it will only change if you reset it from inside RefWorks.
  6. Check your email for an activation link from ProQuest. Once you click on the link, you are ready to use RefWorks.

Note: If the system asks for your institution's Access Code, call the Briscoe Library at 210-567-2440. You will need to verify that you are affiliated with the UT Health Science Center.
